Should you stop taking Fish Oil?
If you've been stocking up on fish oil supplements to boost your brain and heart health, it's time to pause and reevaluate.

Hey fam,
If you've been stocking up on fish oil supplements to boost your brain and heart health, it's time to pause and reevaluate. While Omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA are indeed beneficial, not all fish oil supplements meet the mark.
The Problem with Many Fish Oils
Research reveals a concerning truth: many fish oils undergo processing that diminishes their nutritional value. This process can strip away vital nutrients, leaving behind products that not only fail to deliver their health promises but could also introduce serious health risks.
The Risks of Oxidized Fish Oils
One major issue with certain fish oils is their tendency to oxidize. When these unstable fatty acids oxidize, they form compounds that can damage DNA and accelerate aging. Additionally, some fish oils may deplete important antioxidants, such as vitamin A, increasing risks of cancerous growth and weakening the immune system.
Curious to see the science behind this? Watch my detailed video here.
To avoid these risks, try these safer options:
Krill Oil: Often less processed and provides Omega-3s in a more bioavailable and stable form.
Cold Water Fatty Fish: Opt for actual fish like salmon, mackerel, herring or sardines, which naturally contain high levels of beneficial Omega-3s.
Ethically Extracted Fish Oil: Look for supplements sourced from cold water fatty fish and processed in a way that preserves their nutritional integrity.
Questioning Industry Claims
With a global industry worth billions, skepticism towards marketing claims on supplement bottles is warranted. Always scrutinize what's behind the claims of enhancing your health. Double read ingredients. Remember a “natural flavour” takes 72 chemicals to extract the flavour out of its source. They don’t need to report these chemicals because it’s under a certain FDA approved threshold.
Next time you reach for a bottle of fish oil, ask yourself: Are you truly nourishing your body, or are you just contributing to an industry's bottom line?
To your health,
