Sleep & Weight-loss Tips + Budgeting
Hello friends,
Lately I’ve been wrestling with the thought of what makes life meaningful. After reading through many different versions of this potential answer, I’ve come down to one version that resonates with me the most:
When I take action in line with my purpose and value system in every moment, I create a domino effect where meaningful moments bind together to form a fulfilling life. Instead of focusing on the achievement of a meaningful life, I focus on the moment in front of me and trust.
What I’m reading:
I’m still reading Ego is the Enemy so today I’m going to share a book with you that I read a few years back that blew my mind and changed the way I live every single day; The Biology of Belief by Dr Bruce Lipton.
What I’m listening to:
One of my favourite podcasts is Diary Of A CEO and this latest episode is a must listen as Steven interviews one of my favourite thought leaders; Dr Joe Dispenza. Listen here.
3X Actionable Insights on Biz, Health & Life:
1) Biz: Delegation
The simplest way to help yourself focus on the tasks that drive your business growth is through DELEGATION.
And in an online world, it is so easy and relatively cheap to hire someone. You can ask people on your social media platforms, or, use online platforms particularly geared to the hiring of virtual assistants: Upwork or Fiver.
Delegating daily tasks to someone else frees up your day to be the visionary of your business, bring in more sales, and innovate at a much deeper level.
2) Health: Simple Sleep & Weight-loss Tips
Drink at least 2l of water every day: 1l upon waking.
Have a 12-16 hour window between dinner and breakfast.
Fast paced walk for 20-60 min before breakfast. Bonus: walk with a weighted vest or backpack (I simply pack my backpack with water bottles and books).
Upon waking, get into as much sunlight as possible - this stabilizers your circadian rhythm.
Breath work in the morning and meditation in the evening.
No screens 1 hour before bed.
No liquids 2 hours before bed.
No food 3 hours before bed.
Sleep 8 hours in a dark, noise-free room.
3) Life: Personal Budgeting
I have something to admit. I studied finance and I set financial budgets and structures for my businesses, BUT it took me 34 years to set a personal budget. My sister was the one to wake me up to the fact that it is pretty crazy to be so in tune with your business finances yet free ball your personal cash.
I am in the very big process of doing it and once I am done, I will do a webinar training for anyone interested. To get started you can either use the free and highly rated Mint, or the very forward thinking YNAB.
Something interesting I learnt:
I recently watched a series called “Painkiller” on Netflix. It reveals the truth behind the opioid epidemic caused by Big Pharma. It is about the devastating effects of Oxycontin, but for me it was more than that. It represents the constant criminal activity that pharmaceutical companies action every single day. Most businesses are profit-focused and there is nothing wrong with that. It becomes an issue when it’s businesses that coerce us to ingest chemicals in higher and higher doses when they know there are natural alternatives that do not hurt us.
App or program I’m loving to boost productivity:
Magical - a productivity app that uses AI to speed up repetitive tasks as you work. No integrations, APIs, or magic wands required. All on your computer.
Here’a to your supercharged week 🚀
