Is healthcare built to heal you, or keep you sick?
The uncomfortable truth about our system

Good morning friends,
Most of us grow up believing the healthcare system is designed to keep us well. But what if it isn’t? What if it’s built to manage illness, not reverse it?

The problem with quick diagnoses
Slightly high blood sugar? That’s prediabetes.
Blood pressure a little elevated? That’s hypertension.
These “early labels” often lead to prescriptions that can last a lifetime. In many cases, lifestyle changes could be enough-but that’s rarely the first option offered.
Why the system rewards sickness
Hospitals and clinics bill more when multiple diagnoses are added.
Insurance companies track medication refills to ensure compliance.

Translation? There’s financial incentive for you to stay on pills and appointments, not to get off them.
A better way forward
This doesn’t mean avoiding doctors, it means asking better questions:
• Why is this diagnosis being made?
• Are there lifestyle interventions I can try first?
• What’s the long-term plan to reduce dependence on medication?
And don’t ignore the basics:
Nutrition. Movement. Sunlight. Proper hydration. Stress reduction.
Even tools like AI can help you prepare the right questions for your doctor, so you don’t leave your health entirely in someone else’s hands.
The bigger question
If the healthcare system profits more when you’re unwell, isn’t it time we focus on creating a model that rewards true healing?
I’d love to hear from you, reply to this email with your thoughts. Do you think the system is broken, or is this just how business works in healthcare?
