Is fear stopping you?

How action is the only way to freedom

Hello everyone,

It has been a while. I have been in the flow of marrying my best friend and celebrating our honeymoon - more to come on this at a later stage.

For now I was inspired to share a personal story with you to rev your engine in the last 6 weeks of 2023.

Often, the greatest risk isn't in the daring leaps we take, but in the comfort zones we cling to. My own journey is a testament to this. For years, I was a part of the corporate maze in Johannesburg, shifting from one finance job to another. Each move was a disguise for the dissatisfaction gnawing at me, which I numbed with substance abuse. The root cause? Deep-seated fear of the unpredictable path of entrepreneurship, with all its risks and lack of security.

But what I feared more was the mundane existence I was trapped in. It took half a decade to gather the courage to break free from the corporate shackles. Resigning was like stepping off a cliff into the unknown, but it was the best decision I ever made. Within just a week, an unexpected consulting opportunity came knocking, marking the beginning of my new life. The moment I embraced this risk, my life transformed. Substance reliance? Gone. Boredom? Replaced by a thrilling uncertainty. My first consulting job paved the way to a successful entrepreneurial career, quadrupling my income, restoring my health, and even reigniting my passion for learning, particularly in integrated health and wellness.

This journey illuminated a crucial truth: Fear often blinds us to opportunities lurking in our blind spots. Embracing risk doesn't just change your career trajectory; it revamps your entire life.

How to take action:

Reflect on an area in your life where fear is holding you back. Is it a career move, a personal goal, or a lifestyle change?

Remember, it's not about massive leaps; it's about consistent, courageous steps.
